    You are able to book from a selection of 5 picnic shelters for that special occasion.

  • The Lion's Den is the largest and accommodates up to 100 people. Situated close to the Model Railway with access to the toilets and the free to use barbecues. You are also able to park next to the shelter.
  • The Messmate is the 2nd largest with space for 60 people and 2 free to use barbecues, located next to the Puffing Billy Railway line and you are able to park close by.
  • The Boatshed is located central in the Emerald Lake Park grounds and all facilities can be accessed easily. Accommodates up to 40 people.
  • The Poolside Shelter is located above the wading pool, near the children's playground and accommodates up to 40 people.
  • The Lakeside Shelter has views of the lake and is nestled amongst the trees and is suitable for up to 40 people. Situated close to the wading pool and children's playground.

    Free to use electric barbecues are scattered throughout the Emerald Lake Park grounds.

    Take in the tranquil views of Lake Treanowan and the beautiful surrounds.

    Watch as Puffing Billy whistles its way through the trees, watch the steam rise above the tree tops as the little train happily makes its way to the Lakeside Train Station.

    The view is better than from any kitchen window

    Fresh water is available at each barbecue

    These BBQ's are cleaned daily but please remove all rubbish and leave the cook tops as clean as possible,(newspaper or paper towl does the job well)

    Relax and enjoy the clear, clear and crisp mountain air.

    These you can fish for freely from the banks of the lake.

    The Emerald Lake Park Model Railway boasts as being the largest working HO scale model in the southern hemisphere. There is a huge viewing and interactive display.

    Wading Pool



    Emerald Lake Wade Pool

    The Emerald Lake Park Wading Pool is a free pool open to the public during summer.

    Situated right on the edge of Lake Treganowan, the views are spectacular

    Open in December between 11:30-6:00pm, the perfect place to cool down on one of Melbourne's hot, hot days.

    Puffing Billy Railway

    The narrow gauge steam train, the famous Puffing Billy, pulls into the Emerald Lake Park Station.

    Watching the little train weave its way through the trees on top of the hillside is always a great sight to see.

    For camera enthusiasts, this is a great view to capture.

    If you are riding the train, you can hop off here and enjoy the parkground or continue your ride further on up the track.

    The train travels 25kms through the forest and lush fern gullies of the magnificent Dandenong Ranges from Belgrave to the Lakeside station. And then from here...

    You can continue your journey onto Gembrook, another beautiful little quaint mountain township.
