Lillydale Lake

Getting Fit And Having Fun

Lillydale Lake is an artificial man made lake and lush wetland, all surrounded by green parklands and native trees. There are almost 100 hectares of land as well as the beautiful lake itself.

Lakeside Lillydale

I believe that this is the best children's playground I have ever seen.

There are climbing frames, monkey bars, swings, flying foxes and so much more.

Playground

Great Lillydale lake Playground Equipment

Families come from miles around to enjoy this top quality recreation facility. It is the best place for a cheap weekend break.

Fish at the Lake

Fishing on the Lillydale Lake

You can walk or ride your bike around Lillydale lake. On every day of the week there are adults and kids doing the healthy thing

The walk is very easy, phew, no steep hills to climb and always with a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding district to inspire the soul.

Do you like to read? Nothing like a good book, a good park and a few hours to indulge the past-time.

I love looking through Fishpond to see what books etc that they have on offer. Sometimes they have some really great specials.

Check out some books I found on my last browse through...

Playground Politics: Understanding the Emotional Life of Your School-age ChildPrincess Poppy: Playground PrincessNga Taonga Takaro: Maori Sports and Lesiure Activities
Playground Politics: Understanding the Emotional Life of Your School-age Child...While every parent wants an intelligent, emotionally healthy, and moral child, no one has yet shown exactly how and when these qualities begin. Now Stanley Greenspan, the internationally admired child psychiatrist, identifies the six key experiences which enable children to reach their full potential as human beings.Princess Poppy: Playground Princess...This book is a brand-new story in the best-selling "Princess Poppy" series! Poppy and Honey play together every break time until the day when Poppy decides to join the Blossom Tree Club. She simply can't wait to be one of the gang but Honey is not so keen, she is perfectly happy playing fairy princesses with Poppy.Nga Taonga Takaro: Maori Sports and Lesiure Activities...Harko Brown writes about the revival of more than 20 ancient games and sports of the Maori - including poi, stick games, kites, ball games, memory games, and board games. He traces the history and legend behind each game, and gives clear instructions on how to play, the rules of the game, and how to create the equipment used.

Paddle out and Play

Paddling, Climbing, Canoeing or Feeding the Ducks

The birdlife at Lillydale Lake is everywhere so watch out for your picnic sandwiches as the birds actually fly up onto the tables for a free feed!

Lake Ducks

Lots of different clubs use the lake and parklands....there are Radio Yacht Races(see the link below for more information)these are held on some Saturdays, bring your own and have some fun.

There are canoe enthusiasts, Kayackers, those who prefer to Row, row, row your boat and you can also sail yourself around the lake at your leisure.

Families can try their hand at fishing, there are fishing contests always being held on the banks of the lake.

Fun...Fun...Fun...

If you are really interested in a great family activity, try your hand at sailing a Radio Controlled Yacht....I've even had a go and it really is so much fun, I am yet to sink a boat!

I never believed I could be so competitive.

In Summer it is great to sit on the sand at the man made beach and watch the kids building sand castles and paddling in the cool water.

Lillydale Lake is a great place to take the family for a picnic Day Trip. The facilities include.....

  • Electric BBQ's
  • Picnic Tables and Benches
  • Covered Picnic Areas
  • Toilets
  • Plenty of Parking throughout the park
  • 10 Kilometers of shared tracks
  • Community Room
  • Meeting Facilities

  • And the best and biggest children's' playground I have ever seen. This has recently been surrounded with a childproof safety fence

    Play Equipment

Two fantastic puzzle cable climbing towers are a real treat to kids of all ages.

I have even seen grown men tackle the cable mountains, the kids love trying to reach the top and once there hopefully they tackle the climb down.

I have been caught out with Ruby, stuck halfway up the tower, I have had to ask a passing Dad for a hand.

I'm far too old to be stuck up there! The family pet is allowed in certain areas of the park but try to keep the park safe by keeping it on the leash.

So all members of the family can enjoy the facilities.

There is usually an ice-cream vendor parked near the playground on a weekend for that extra treat.

If you happen to run out of a few "Barbie bits", no worries as Lillydale Shopping center is only 5 minutes away from Lillydale lake.

There is also a local milkbar just up the road near the roundabout.

    Picnic by the Lake

A family picnic is my favorite fun activity

Lillydale Lake is THE place to go to clear out the cobwebs, wear out the kids and just get away from the stresses of everyday life.

Put the visit into your calender no matter what your thing is.

Flying a kite, kicking a ball, whatever, it's a great place to head to for a last minute getaway and really is a beautiful place for all the family to enjoy.
