Tracey and Dean Shipley love mazes for kids having visited Victoria's best with their family, so they decided that they had to produce one of their own.

2003 saw the beginnings of the dream for the High Country Maze situated in the magnificent High Country region of Victoria.

Since then they have transformed a 6 acre bare block into a maze of beautiful walled gardens.

Dean and Tracey both love gardening. Their incredible and driven passion, is now mirrored through their maze on the outskirts of beautiful Mansfield, in 'The Man from Snowy River' country.

In 2013 Dean and Tracey where finalists in the ABC Gardening Australia Magazine Gardener of the Year competition with only 2 being selected Australia wide a huge honour and they were proudly awarded 'The Silver Trowel'award.

The High Country Maze for kids was also recognised with the JUDGES AWARD at the Mansfield District Business Associations Awards in 2013.

COSMOPOLITAN Magazine also featured a stunnning High Country Maze Garden Wedding.

Building The High Country Mazes For Kids

There are 2 Mazes for kids, with the main maze incorporating a Gnome Hunt. Thoroughly engaging for the kids and the 'young at heart'.

If all the gnomes happen to be found, then there is a surprise at the end of the adventure.

Both parents and children get to enjoy and share this fun experience together.

Here is a selection of photos that shows the whole family at work building what now can only be described as being one of Victoria's best mazes for kids to thoroughly enjoy.  

To quote Tracey ...

“My husband Dean and I have taken a bare paddock and turned it into what you see today (with no outside help) with the idea of having a place for the whole family to enjoy, the response we have had so far from the public has been great, so I think we have succeeded in creating something that will make family memories.”

The second maze is laid out especially for the children and as Tracey says, "not one to get lost in".

Photo boards, pixies and large featured topariaries are scattered throughout the gardens and there are plenty of places to set down a picnic.

Beautiful perfumed roses have been lovingly planted, numbering well over 200 now.

There is a Cafe Bar offering fresh roasted coffee and a selection of teas, milk shakes, ice creams and a variety of cold drinks as refreshments.

Clever clipping results in topiary sculptures that will thrill the children, amaze the adults and leave lasting memories.

Let the children's imaginations come alive as they invent magical games and mystical stories of enchanted forests.

The Maze for kids also specialises in Kids Parties, Birthday celebrations and special occasions of all kinds including christmas fun!

And Mother Earth grows beautifully tended by careful green thumbs. Here she lies at first planting and the second shot fully dressed with natures blooms. How clever is that!

High Country Maze & Gardens is a stunning location for wedding services & photos.

"To Quote Tracey:
We have now had 2 weddings at the Maze both with the service held in the large open garden room.
The guests then utilised the grounds to explore and the outdoor games room was set up with large checker, bocce & croquet and drinks and canapés where served.
The bride and groom then had their photos taken throughout the gardens and the guests where well entertained after which they then moved on to the marquee set up on the grounds to enjoy the evening together."
