Melbourne Cup Day is Australia’s most celebrated horse racing event. It is an annual public holiday in the state of Victoria and is observed nationwide on the first Tuesday of November. Most race meetings are held under blue skies but the Melbourne weather in November is notorious for surprising us with sometimes "4 seasons in one day" so be prepared.

The Melbourne weather in November makes the beach a popular place to visit at this time of the year and down along the Mornington and Bellarine Peninsulars are great day trip outings.

An event held in the month of November and becoming a fun, family event is the Variety Santa Fun Run. Those who enter the run can choose to run or walk 5km or 10km in the official Variety five piece Santa suit. Entrants are asked to fundraise with all monies raised going to the Variety Clubs special fund supporting children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

The Variety Santa Fun Run is a family-friendly national event and encourages inclusive participation from everyone, especially children with special needs.
