New Pages On The Website

Melbourne Winter

Yes, it's cold. Just about every day, the grey clouds are up there, blocking out those slightly warm sun rays.

We do get some great days though throughout the Winter here in Melbourne. When the sun shines, it is truly beautiful wandering the city streets.

What I find, after a heavy downpour during the night, is that the streets always look so much cleaner. The buildings are washed clean and the windows are sparkling once again.

So, what's the weather going to be like in August?

There's so much to see and do over Winter in and around Melbourne. Check out the latest page on Melbourne Winter.

The Eureka Tower

You can't miss this tower, right in the heart of the city. It stands majestically overlooking the Yarra River. Build on the banks of the Yarra and situated in the Southgate precinct, it is one of the city's best attractions and one that you just can't miss out on exploring.

Check out more information on The Eureka tower here.

Site Overhaul! is still going on

The site's pages are still being overhauled. As there are over 250 pages, so this is going to take some time to complete.

At least the page's update will make sure that the information on it, is up to date.

If you do find anything on the website that is out of date, I would really appreciate if you could let me know. Please contact me here

Also, if there is anything that you would like to see up on the site, use the same link and let me know. I love putting new information on the site for others to enjoy.

There are some pages on the site where you can share your own experiences. On the page, you will find a form where you can add your own story. Here are some examples.

Zoo Stories

If you would like to share your experience or experiences with us, that would be great. Become part of the website with your very own page.

What's Happening In and Around Melbourne In August?

Walhalla Festival of Lights

During the dark and cold month of August, the historic gold-mining township of Walhalla is transformed as it celebrates the winter in a way that is reminiscent of the traditional Swedish manner of celebrating winter.

6:30pm to 9pm

For more information on the festivities in the month of August follow this link.

D.J's Market 3rd Birthday with Transformers!

This little boutique community market is going to be celebrating their 3rd Birthday on August 5th!

D.J's Market launched on August 9th 2014 in Narre Warren and was the only one in the area at that time. In December 2015 they moved to Brentwood Park Neighbourhood House

21a Bemersyde Dve,

Berwick

The market continues to run there the first Saturday of the month starting at 10:30-2:30.

The Winter Night Market at Queen Vic Market

The annual Queen Victoria Winter Night Market is back this winter, making Melbourne's cold months more bearable with a killer line-up of food, design stalls and performances.

This time around, the market has commissioned lighting concept company John Fish to design three installations that will play with the ideas of warmth, welcome and intrigue; think hazy walls of red smoke, glowing neon lights and bright white beams illuminating the entire main food hall.

The Winter Night Market is held on the corner of Queen and Therry Streets in the city, and runs from 5-10pm.

Opening hours: Tue-Thu 6am-2pm; Fri 6am-5pm; Sat 6am-3pm; Sun 9am-4pm

Transport: Nearby stations: Melbourne Central; Flagstaff

Price: Free

Coal Creek Heritage Craft Day - 6th August

The Coal Creek Heritage Craft Day is a unique opportunity to see first hand live demonstrations of traditional, pioneering skills and trades that once required hard, repetitious labour over the course of many years.

Thanks to our changing lifestyles and modern day technology, many old trades are slowly disappearing and soon some won't be around at all.

The Coal Creek Heritage Craft Day is an opportunity to celebrate these skills and show the younger generations what came before - and a trip to Coal Creek is always well worth the effort.

Coal creek is an excellent place to visit anytime of the year. For more information on the old historical township, follow the link I have on the website. Discover where coal was discovered in South Gippsland

Join Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, city councillors, the 2017 Junior Lord Mayor, civic leaders and special guests as we salute the flag at 11am.

Free public event.

I don't know about you, but I love BBQ's in the park in winter. There's something about a BBQ'd sausage in bread and the smell of the Aussie bush. Kid's running through the fallen Autumn leaves and the crisp mountain air.

As I write this newsletter, these are the markets that are on, on Saturday and Sunday, this weekend.

- The Google+ Page for Family Getaways Melbourne

- Melbourne Travel Boards on Pinterest

- Follow me on Instagram

To those of you who have already connected on any of these Social Media platforms, I say Thank you

What I love to do is interact with you. Always far more interesting to have a two way conversation the internet.

Come on over and start a conversation, share a picture or more from the Pinterest boards or if you have 'TRIED' something, make a comment.

This 'Tried' button really gets the conversations going.

Give it a try out. For example you may have done something in Melbourne that the picture is depicting. Say so and what you thought of it.

Look out for the pictures that I have pinned personally - they will have this showing ...

This is the 'Pinterest Board' that has my Website pages pinned. I'm working through each of my pages and making sure that each is pinned onto this board. If you want to only follow one of my boards, let it be this one at least :-)

The Website Pinterest Board

I love playing with Pinterest. It's turning out to be one of my favourite Social Media Platforms.

Come and join me :-)

I Need Your Help!

Over the next few months, I have set myself a goal to really advance my website and try and build the traffic that is visiting.

So much so that I'm going to be doing a lot of posting, Tweeting and Instagraming through the Social Media platforms.

Here's where I would love you to help somewhat. You have a wonderful group of peers. Some of whom have never seen the Family Getaways Website. I would love you to share the site around amongst your family and friends.

The figures are improving every week, however, where I would love them to be is a lot higher.

Building Family Getaways Melbourne keeps me young and active, sharing what I know and what I'm learning about Melbourne gives me so much pleasure. I am sure there are stacks more people out there who would enjoy what the site has to offer.

I will say thanks for the help now as I know you love this little 'Tribe' we are in and I'm sure so will your peers.

The Future Of Family Getaways Melbourne

The Site is here to stay and I hope that you are enjoying exploring the pages as much as I do writing them up.

This coming month I will be out there exploring more of what Melbourne has to offer. The city is developing so fast these days. New buildings going up, new precincts being redeveloped and more things to see and do.

If there is anything that you need to ask pop over here and ask away

Want to see more content o the site? Have you got any suggestions? Contact me here

Don't forget to drop in and visit any of the markets I've reviewed so far and tell them Family Getaways Melbourne suggested that you do so.

If you like this Newsletter's content, please do a friend and me a big favor and "pay it forward."

If a friend DID forward this to you and if you like what you read, I'd love you to subscribe by visiting...
